Design Token Architecture · v3.2 Final
v3.2 is the final architecture. Six collections (Global · Modes · Theme · Semantic · Component Packs · Regulatory), two locked invariants (raw-hex only in Global + Modes DNA, strict 4-point scale), nine brand modes, Light + Dark theme. Implemented in Figma file fysBbW10LRJUNgisaBKXJo on 2026-04-29.

The locked architecture. Architecture deck explains the model; Reference catalogues every token; Component Audit measures the gap between the v3.2 token layer and the components on the Components page.
Architecture v3.2
The shape of v3.2 — six collections, alias chain walked end-to-end, hex invariant, strict 4-point scale, nine brand modes, permission matrix, what's outstanding (component adoption).

02 Evidence base audits feeding v3.2
The data that drove the architecture. Useful when arguing a specific edge case or onboarding new designers.
Brand Audit
Per-brand evidence cards for 9 brands × key screens. Every divergence categorised (dual-palette, three-icon split, pill colour rules, CTA radius by context, header as its own identity). Maps each edge case to a v3 token change carried forward into v3.2.

Which masters were fully tokenised at the v3 baseline, which had partial gaps, and where a semantic role was missing entirely (Pill, Badge, Modal). Per-component migration plan that informed v3 → v3.1 → v3.2.
Open audit03 Archive process history
Previous versions kept as the record of how the architecture evolved. v3.1 was the prior shipped reference. v4 was a structural exploration (flatten Primitives + move brand mode onto Semantic) — dropped on 2026-04-29 in favour of locking discipline rules inside the v3.1 collection model.
Architecture v3
The pre-narrowing v3 deck. Five-collection model, brand × theme × jurisdiction axes, v3 semantic and component additions. v3.2 inherits the shape and adds two locked invariants.
Open archived deck v3.1Token Reference v3.1
The prior shipped reference. Narrowed against the 9-brand audit. Carried forward into v3.2 with the collection rename + DNA promotion + scale enforcement.
Open archived reference v4 (dropped)Architecture v4
Structural exploration that flattened Primitives and moved the brand mode axis to Semantic. Migration cost outweighed structural win; team chose to keep the v3.1 model and lock discipline rules instead — that is v3.2.
Open archived deck v4 (dropped)Token Reference v4
The proposed v4 catalogue. Kept as reference only. The dark-mode pattern surfaced here was carried forward to v3.2 with brand-tinted neutrals.
Open archived reference v3Token Reference v3
The pre-narrowing v3 catalogue. v3.1 narrowed it against the brand audit; v3.2 then renamed and locked invariants on top.

The original ~550-token catalogue. v3 carried these forward and added ~35 new tokens; v3.2 then collapsed v3.1's chrome layer when Modes absorbed it.
